Dear Kenwick Cricket Club Members

You may be aware that the SMCA has advised that a player in an SMCA game has tested positive to COVID-19 on Monday. None of Kenwick’s games are affected by this positive case.

As a result of this, the SMCA has released a COVID-19 policy that all clubs must follow. The policy can be downloaded from the SMCA website and I have also attached it to this news item.

I encourage all members to read this policy. The crux of the policy is detailed below:

- Equipment sharing is still allowed.
- Masks must be worn in all club facilities, including change rooms, however they are not required on the field.
- You must use SafeWA or ServiceWA to check in to club facilities.
- Shared afternoon teas are now prohibited. Please bring your own afternoon tea.
- Drinks must not be shared under any circumstance.
- As before, saliva and sweat above the shoulders is not to be used on the ball.
- Umpires will not be able to hold players equipment. It can be held by another player or placed behind the wicketkeeper without penalty.

Also of note is the State Government mandate regarding an approved COVID-19 vaccine. To enter a licensed premises after 31 January 2022, you must show evidence of double-dose vaccination. This applies any club’s facilities which may have a liquor license. You may be requested to provide acceptable evidence that you have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine at cricket games near club facilities.

If you are deemed a close or casual contact of a COVID-19 case or become COVID-19 positive, please let your captain or myself know immediately so that appropriate measures are able to be put in place in relation to COVID-19 safety and playing rules.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
